Elmer Ellis led the University of Missouri as president from 1954 to 1966 and was inextricably involved with higher education from his youth in North Dakota. During his career as president, Ellis had the vision—that is, the foresight based on that elusive and unique combination of intellect, experience, and common sense—to provide the leadership that is essential for a rapidly growing university. Upon his retirement, Ellis reflected upon and wrote about his life and career. This book is the result of that reminiscence.
