1) Mo Hon Go, or Sacred Sun, created a sensation in France when she arrived in 1827 with five other members of her Osage tribe.

2) Sunny Afternoon, oil painting by Frank Nuderscher.

3) The Battle of Wilson’s Creek depicts the first death of a Union general, Brigadier General Nathaniel Lyon, who fell on August 10, 1861.

4) A Kansas City Southern Railway promotional piece from the early twentieth century.
