Eight notecards each featuring an image from the Society's exhibit, "Picturing Native Americans in the Nineteenth Century: Lithographs from McKenney and Hall’s History of the Indian Tribes of North America."
Thomas McKenney, former head of the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, worked with writer James Hall to publish a large portfolio of portraits and biographies of American Indians in 1832. These images influenced past and present perceptions of Native Americans in the United States and abroad. Highlighting some of the remarkable hand-colored lithographs that illustrated the book, each box contains eight cards, 2 of each image shown below.
